Brunner Mine Disaster

On Monday we went to the Brunner Mine site. We dressed up and did a role play thing. I had to be a priest and pray because the person with me had to be a girl pretending to cry for her dead husband. We were all laughing even the people playing the dead miners. I think we have some photos on the school blog.

After we went on a walk. First she showed us the old coke ovens and we got to go in there. I thought there would be a spider in there but there wasn't so I went in. The bricks had been melted inside and it felt smooth. Next she showed us to the first mine that had been blocked off because it was down at the water so no-one could enter. Then she brought us to the new mine entrance but I don't think you should enter because you will get overcome by the gas.

Then we found out how they made bricks because they had a clay mine. That was when we found a 100 year old piece of coal, well maybe it was 100 years old. Then we went over to the statue with 65 or 33 names then we went over to something and I think it was called a bee hive oven? It was called that because they were all in the shape of a bee hive.

Then when we came back we had to make another role-play thing then we took a class photo. After that we went over to the Stillwater cemetery and went over to a giant tomb stone and there in that giant tomb was 33 of the miners buried in that tomb. There are still others buried in other tombs.

It was a great day.

Top three scary stories

1. Click Click slide. She use to be a normal girl but with nightmares that she would become a immortal monster with long nails and have a body and she would say "Click click slide" So one night she heard clicking and grinding on the window but she was terrified to go near it so she ignored and thought it was her dad doing some work so she fell asleep. So the next day she look at the window and saw scratched words that said "I see you" then she looked on the roof and there she was but she blacked out before she could do anything and woke up at 3:AM and she heard the scratching but this time she chose to go and take look at the window when she did the window broke she got dragged out of there and never got seen again years later she woke up and realised that she is click click slide.

2. The bed watcher. A little boy was going on camp with his class to a lodge by a lake and he thought it would be fun so the first night he could hear something walking from the closet to the bed he opened hi eyes to see a terrifying soaking wet lady standing at the end of the bed he blinked once and she got closer and closer so he closed his eyes for a long then he looked again and she was gone he looked to the left to see her crawling and then she dragged him over to the lake and then he was never heard again.

3. Santa's truth. One Christmas evening a little girl saw the cookies for Santa and the milk. She wanted it so she asked her dad if she could have them and he said no or Santa will be cross with he so she fell asleep on the couch and she woke to presents being dropped and she had a look and there was Santa standing in front of her then he turned around and ate her.

Captain cook setting foot on new Zealand

About 250 years ago Captain cook set foot in New Zealand. Captain Cook was Born on October 27, 1728, in Marton-in-Cleveland, Yorkshire, England.  James Cook was a naval captain, navigator and explorer who, in 1770, discovered and charted New Zealand and the Great Barrier Reef of Australia on his ship HMB Endeavour.

This week the government said they will spend about 15 million dollars marking the event.

My opinion is use all that money to rebuild his boat.
